Shubman Gill Bounces Back After Dropped Sitter To Seal India’s 48-Run Win In AUS vs IND 4th T20I

Team India T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill had an eventful time in the deep during the final stages of the fourth T20I against Australia at Gold Coast on Thursday, November 6. He dropped a simple chance off Washington Sundar’s bowling in the 19th over but redeemed himself by taking a similar opportunity off the very next delivery, helping bring the match to a close.

India’s fielding performance was mixed, with Arshdeep Singh and Suryakumar Yadav holding on to some key chances. However, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill faltered in the deep, spilling catches. Despite these lapses, the dropped opportunities didn’t alter the outcome, as India secured a comfortable 48-run victory, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Earlier, in the first ball of the penultimate over, Nathan Ellis tried to clear the boundary with 50 runs required off the last two overs. His shot fell short, heading straight toward Shubman Gill, who failed to hold the chance, missing an opportunity to dismiss his former franchise teammate for the third time in just four balls.

On the very next delivery, Adam Zampa played a similar shot, but this time Shubman Gill held on, securing India’s victory. Washington Sundar finished with impressive figures of 3-3 in just 1.2 overs, having also reached the milestone of 50 T20I wickets. You can watch the moment here:

Earlier in the match, Shubman Gill was India’s top scorer, making 46 off 39 balls as the team posted 167-8. Australia’s fielding let them down, with Xavier Bartlett spilling a catch off Abhishek Sharma in the very first over.

“Sharma And Gill’s Powerplay Start Key” – Suryakumar Yadav  In AUS vs IND 4th T20I

Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav lauded the batting effort, especially the openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, who added 56 runs for the first wicket off 40 balls, giving India a solid platform to build their innings.

“Credit goes to all the batters. Right from the top, the way Abhishek and Shubman started the powerplay, they realized it was not a normal wicket to get 200-220. Very smart batting and everyone chipped in. It was a complete team effort,” Suryakumar Yadav said during the post-match presentation.
