Gill looked in sublime touch during the dominating Asia Cup win. He finished as the leading run-getter during the continental tournament including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
During the Asia Cup 2023, Gill made 302 runs from 5 matches including the best score of 121 against Bangladesh. It was a sensational batting effort by the dashing opener who looked in sublime touch providing positive starts along with Rohit Sharma.
He looked in brilliant touch during the 2 One-day international matches he played against Australia. Gill made 178 runs including well complied 104 in 2nd ODI at Indore. He showed his class with a superb knock in the first One-day international at Mohali.
Gill won the ICC player of month award for the second time this year. He surpassed teammate Mohammed Siraj and England Dawid Malan. Gill continued his rise joining Pant, Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shreyas Iyer, and Virat Kohli to win the ICC player of the month award.
Gill had a tremendous Asia Cup 2023 with some match-winning performances putting bowlers under pressure and not allowing them to settle. He dominated the bowling attacks in Asia Cup 2023 and ensured that India won their 8th Asia Cup title. Gill had a chance of topping Babar Azam as the leading batter in the ODI format. He missed the 3rd ODI match at Rajkot against Australia.
