Team India cricketer Suryakumar Yadav was ecstatic after winning his maiden ODI series beating Sri Lanka 2-1 in the three-match series. Although India lost the last game, they won the series comfortably after winning the first two games.
Suryakumar, who made his debut in this series was awarded the player of the series for his consistent batting performances in the three matches. After an unbeaten 31 in the first ODI, Suryakumar Yadav notched a half-century in the 2nd match before playing another 40-run knock in the final tie of the series.
Although he will be disappointed after failing to convert the start in the third game, but it was a good start for the Mumbai Indians batsman. He took to the microblogging site Twitter to express his emotions with the fans.

Meanwhile speaking of the game, India only managed to post 225 runs after opting to bat first. Prithvi Shaw was the highest scorer with 49 runs while Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 46 and 40 each.
It was a cakewalk for Sri Lanka with Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa adding 109 runs for the second wicket. Although they lost a couple of wickets in the end but the target was always within their reach. The Islanders won the match by three wickets with eight overs to spare.

Speaking at the end of the game, Suryakumar Yadav said that he has been doing the same work in the last couple of years that has earned dividends for him. He said:
I think I have been doing the same things for the last two years. Just look to keep it simple and the mantra has been working. I would have loved to make it big in the last two games, but I am learning. The atmosphere in the camp is really positive and am looking forward to the T20 series.
