After Krunal Pandya, India’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham have also tested positive for the dreaded covid-19 virus. The two players and the other six players – Hardik Pandya, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Deepak Chahar, and Ishan Kishan were deemed as Krunal Pandya close contacts as they dined together before he tested positive.
Just a few hours before the second T20I on Tuesday, Krunal Pandya complained of throat pain. The medical team conducted a Rapid Antigen test, in which his results returned positive. Krunal was immediately shifted to an isolation facility immediately on June 27. Eight players, who were identified as close contacts were also kept under isolation at the team hotel, but separated from the rest of the touring party. Krunal and the other eight players were unavailable for selection in the final two T20Is.
