India completed the clean sweep by beating hosts by 7 wickets in one off T20 match played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Kohli won the toss and bowled first, Sri Lanka started well again but lost wickets in middle overs were restricted to 170 for 7. Captain Kohli showed his class by scoring 82 in 54 balls and Manish Pandey also completed his half century to complete the series on a high note.
Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field. Tharanga and Dickwella got off to a quick fire start 23 runs in 2.3 overs. Sri Lankan captain Tharanga was dismissed by Kumar for 5. Munaweera looked in great touch putting pressure on the Indian bowlers. At the end of first 6 overs, Sri Lanka were 60 for 2. At the other end, Mathews was also dismissed. Munaweera completed his fifty in 26 balls before being dismissed for 53.
Priyanjan played slowly as the other batsmen were dismissed trying to hit big shots. Perera, Prasanna, Shanaka, all went in quick succession to leave Sri Lanka in big trouble at 134 for 7 in 16.4 overs. In the next four overs, Priyanjan and Udana played lovely strokes 36 runs in quick time to help hosts post 170 for 7 in 20 overs. Chahal was the pick of bowlers with 3 wickets.
Chasing the target of 171 runs, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul added 22 runs in 2.4 overs before Rohit was dismissed for 9 runs in 8 balls. KL Rahul looked in good touch with wonderful strokes while Kohli continued his brilliant form. At the end of 6 overs, India were 43 for 2.
Virat Kohli showed his class in T20 format too with excellent batting and running. The Indian captain completed his fifty in 30 balls. Both Kohli and Pandey made the batting looking easy putting the Sri Lankan bowlers under pressure. Kohli continued to play with aggressive intent adding 119 runs for the third wicket before the captain was dismissed for 82 in 54 balls.
Manish Pandey completed his fifty with a boundary. He remained not out on 51 off 36 balls. India won the match by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare. India showed complete dominance in the entire series of Sri Lanka.
