Smriti Mandhana Asked To Stay In Self-Isolation In Her Hometown Sangli

Star Indian batswoman Smriti Mandhana has been asked to go in self-quarantine in her hometown Sangli amid the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Sangli, which is a part of Maharashtra, have been one of the most affected districts in the country.

Incidentally, Mandhana was a part of the World Cup-bound squad which returned from Australia earlier this month. Although they lost the final to the host at the jam-packed Melbourne Cricket Ground, but they made the entire country proud with a fearless brand of cricket they played throughout the competition.

The Indian team return to the country a few days after the final and Smriti Mandhana stayed in her Mumbai house for few days before travelling to Sangli on March 23; the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown in the whole country.

The Health officer of the Sangli Municipal Corporation (MNC) Dr Ravindra Tate confirmed that Smriti Mandhana has been asked to stay in self-quarantine. He also added that it is a safety measure as she is travelling from abroad. Notably, as many as 25 members from the same family from Islampur city in Sangli were found positive a couple of days ago which has compelled the authorities to take strict decisions.

“Yes, we told Smriti Mandhana to stay in home quarantine on March 25. We are also keeping an update on her health on a daily basis. Amid Coronavirus pandemic, we are taking these precautionary steps. The health of the people in home quarantine is being checked by the doctors daily here,” he said according to local newspaper Pudhari.

Meanwhile, India have already witnessed the death of 30+ plus people with more than 1200 positive cases registered due to the coronavirus pandemic.
