Smriti Mandhana Breaks Silence: Wedding Called Off, Focus Back on Cricket

Smriti Mandhana, the Indian women’s cricket team star, has officially confirmed that her much-anticipated wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal has been cancelled. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Mandhana addressed weeks of public speculation and rumours swirling around the abrupt postponement of their wedding.

She said that although she values privacy, she felt compelled to speak out — declaring clearly that “the wedding is called off.” She asked fans and the media alike to stop speculating further, and appealed for “space and respect” for both families during this difficult time.

The wedding had originally been scheduled for November 23, 2025, and preparations, including pre-wedding celebrations, had already been underway. However, the ceremony was postponed following a sudden medical emergency — Mandhana’s father was rushed to hospital on the very day of the wedding due to a heart-related issue, triggering widespread concern.

Shortly after, reports emerged that Muchhal, too, was hospitalised, reportedly suffering from stress and exhaustion. What began as a postponement soon morphed into a permanent cancellation as the couple and their families reassessed the situation.

Rumours, Social Media Silence, and the Fallout

Following the postponement, speculation and rumours exploded online — especially allegations of infidelity and misconduct involving Muchhal, none of which have ever been substantiated by either side.

The situation only intensified when Mandhana quietly removed photos and videos from her social media documenting the pre-wedding moments. Her first public appearance after the postponement was a brand-collaboration post; fans immediately noticed that she wasn’t wearing the engagement ring that was often visible in earlier pictures. This absence triggered renewed conjecture across social media, even though some argued the content might have been recorded earlier.

Despite all this pressure, Mandhana and Muchhal chose to remain mostly silent publicly, releasing carefully worded statements rather than engaging in back-and-forth with media or social speculation. Mandhana’s post explicitly requested privacy, urging people to allow both families the dignity and space to heal and move on.

Going Back to Cricket — Priorities and Focus

In her statement, Mandhana reaffirmed that despite the personal upheaval, her commitment to cricket and the country remains undiminished. She emphasized that representing India at the highest level has always been a “higher purpose” for her, and she wants to continue playing and winning trophies for her team.

Many saw her return to professional focus soon after the announcement — choosing discipline and sport over dwelling on the setback. That resolve underlines both her maturity and her love for the game. For fans and admirers, this move not only clarifies the situation but also sends a message: while private lives may face turbulence, one’s dedication to their calling can remain unshaken.
