Indian batting sensation Smriti Mandhana will be missing the final two games of her franchise Southern Brave including the final. SHe will be heading home to stay a while with her family before leaving for India’s trip to Australia. The same was reported by ESPN Cricinfo via Twitter. Brave’s are currently topping the points table in the Women’s Hundred competition.

Their latest win was against Welsh Fire in which Mandhana scored 52-ball 78. Smriti Mandhana’s side won the match by 39 runs to register their sixth win of the competition.

In the game against Welsh Fire, Mandhana hit three sixes and seven fours during her stay to help her side score 166/3 in the allotted 100 balls. She shared a 107-run partnership for the first wicket with opener Danielle Wyatt (53 off 34 balls, 8x4s, 1×6).

Smriti Mandhana To Miss Remaining Part Of The Women’s Hundred

After a promising 61 in the second game, Mandhana had a string of low scores which read 5, 3, 19 and 1. However, Wednesday’s knock brings her back into form and into seventh place among the top-scorers in the tournament. The Brave’s play their last game against Oval Invincibles.

Meanwhile, the Indian women’s cricket team will be touring Australia for one Test and three ODIs and T20Is each between September 19 to October 11. It is an important trip for the Indian women’s team and the likes of Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami. The veteran cricketers are on the verge of retirement and possibly is eyeing another ICC title before hanging their boots.

The first ODI will be played in Sydney followed by the next two in Melbourne. The two teams play the one-off Test in Perth before going back to Sydney to play the three T20Is to cap off the tour.

India women’s next generation of cricketers which includes the likes of Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma amongst others are being seen as the three who will take the batting baton from Raj.
