Delhi Daredevils franchise has released a lot of star players from their side for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League. Gautam Gambhir, Maxwell and many other big names weren’t retained as the side chose to give a lot of opportunities to youngsters for their hunt to maiden IPL title.
Reports suggest that Sourav Ganguly has suggested the franchise to include Joe Root in their middle order for the next edition. It is to be noted that Root was unsold in 2018 auctions. Not just him, Amla and many other classy players hadn’t received a contract. Root’s gritty knock against Sri Lanka in the second test match has redefined his ability to bat under pressure. His knock of 124 with a splendid strike rate brought the game to life.
Root had already expressed his desire to represent a franchise in the cash-rich league last year. He even said that he wasn’t looking for money but to improve his game in shorter formats. Unfortunately, he wasn’t preferred by any.
Now, Sourav Ganguly took his Twitter to handle to praise the English skipper for his mettle in the middle. What’s fascinating here is that he also tagged his close friend Parth Jindal, who is one among the Delhi Daredevils management staff.
Several fans and critics now suspect that it was an indication for the franchise to pick someone who can contribute runs in sub-continent conditions under pressure.

It will be interesting if Jindal can take this tweet as a blessing in disguise and work on picking the 27-year old to the side. Root is now ranked number four in both ODI’s and tests and his addition is definitely a boost for any franchise he represents.
