South Africa have picked young fast bowler Marco Jansen in their 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India. The tall and lanky pacer, who made his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion, earns his maiden call-up.
The hosts will be without Anrich Nortje in the ODIs as well. The pacer is continuing his rehabilitation after getting sidelined from the Test series due to a hip injury.
Temba Bavuma will lead the squad with left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj as his deputy. Quinton de Kock, who is currently on paternity leave, will be back in time for the first ODI of the series on January 19. The cricketer shocked one and all announcing his retirement from the longest format of the game with immediate effect after the Centurion defeat.
Wayne Parnell, who made his comeback to international cricket in November after a spell in England where he was a Kolpak player. Opener Zubayr Hamza, who scored a half-century on debut during the aborted series against Netherlands, has also been retained.

“For many of our players, it does not get bigger than playing against this powerhouse Indian team and this will be the biggest series of their young lives so far. We are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table and wish Temba (Bavuma) and Mark (Boucher) all the best for the series,” he added.
