The “Big Three” and “Four Nation Tournament” proposed by the BCCI president is taking rounds in the world media. It has become widely discussed topic.
The annual tournament could run involving India, England and Australia and the participation of a fourth nation. However South African captain Faf Du Plessis is unimpressed with Ganguly”s theory and hopes for more participation which could help in the growth of the game.
“The last year or so you can see what”s going on in terms of the big three countries,” “There”s a lot of movement going towards that, a lot more matches being played against the top three, or big three. It”s probably better if you include more teams, the better to grow the game as much as you can.” The south Africa skipper said after South Africa defeated England by 107 runs in Centurion.
He also emphasized on the fact that there are small test laying countries who are not getting a chance to play test cricket and this is not in good terms of what is happening in the sport.
He also wanted that other nations who play more of limited over format get a chance to play more first-class cricket or test cricket which will help the grow both economically and help in the growth of the game in their country.
Faf Du Plessis who is towards the end of his career was mighty pleased with his teams performance in the Centurion Test against England who had an experienced team comprising of Anderson, Broad and Root.
He also added that his team is in the transition phase and with this performance it will help them rebuilt there confidence and regain the trust of the Fans.
The South Africans will now face England in Cape Town in the second test of the four match test series .
