The fast bowler from Sri Lanka, Shehan Madushanka has been detained by the police on May 24 (Sunday) for possessing drugs. As per reports in AFP, a local magistrate has sent the cricketer for two weeks remand.

Meanwhile, the police detained Shehan Madushanka from Sri Lankan town of Pannala where he was driving a car with another person despite a lockdown in place. As the coronavirus pandemic continue to haunt the whole world, the Sri Lanka government has imposed a complete lockdown in the country. While the effect has been less so far, the country is adopting every possible step to curb the spread of the virus.

However, the fast bowler flocked the rules and was driving with a friend when the police caught him. He was charged for carrying over two grams of heroin. This is likely to have a massive toll on the career of Shehan Madushanka, who had drugs in his possession. Meanwhile, he is not the first cricketer in history to be charged with drugs.

The 25-year-old Madushanka had an outstanding debut against Bangladesh in 2018 where he scalped a hat-trick. He also played two T20 matches during that series but has not played an international since then due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is due to give relaxation on lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak from Tuesday. So far, they have arrested almost 65000 people for breaking the rules imposed by the government on March 20.
