Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are facing each other in the 2nd Test match of the ongoing Test series. The hosts won the toss and chose to bat first in this Test. During the 23rd over of Day 1, Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis complained of chest pain.
Kusal Mendis was seen in a lot of discomfort. He was holding his chest area. However, medical staff in the stadium rescued Kusal. They took Mendis to a nearby hospital in Dhaka. This was a massive blow for the Sri Lankan team because Kusal Mendis was in good form in this series.
Mendis scored a brilliant 54 in the first innings of the first Test. He followed it up with a good knock of 48 runs in the 2nd innings. The visiting side will be hoping for Kusal Mendis to get better as soon as possible. The first Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh ended in a draw.
Earlier in the past too, several cricketers have complained of chest pain. Recently, Abid Ali from Pakistan was diagnosed with heart disease. He has missed 5 months of cricket due to this. Even in football too, players frequently complain of chest pain during the match.
Liton Das scores a brilliant century to rescue Bangladesh
After electing to bat first, Bangladesh didn’t get a good start. They lost the early wickets of both their openers – Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Roy. Srilankan pacer Kasun Rajitha was too lethal with his line and lengths. Home team Bangladesh was struggling at 24 for 5.
However, the experienced duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das took Bangladesh out of trouble. Liton Das continued his good form and scored a brilliant century. Mushfiqur Rahim too is nearing his century. Both of them have batted with maturity and determination.
