Star LSG Pacer Doubtful For First Half Of IPL 2025 Due To Injury: Reports

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav is set to miss the first half of IPL 2025 due to injury, as reported by ESPNcricinfo. This comes as a major setback for the franchise, which had retained him for ₹11 crore before the mega auction.

Known for his blistering pace, Mayank has faced injury concerns early in his career. He played only four matches in IPL 2024 due to an abdominal strain and later suffered another injury during rehabilitation.

However, he recovered in time to feature in the T20I series against Bangladesh, where he claimed four wickets in three games. Following his international debut, the 22-year-old picked up another injury, reportedly an stress-related issue, which could keep him out for an extended period.

If his recovery progresses as planned, he is expected to return in the second half of IPL 2025. In IPL 2024, Mayank impressed in his four appearances for LSG, taking seven wickets with a best performance of 3/14.

“He’s a crucial asset for Indian cricket too” – LSG mentor Zaheer Khan on Mayank Yadav

Lucknow Super Giants mentor Zaheer Khan recently revealed that they are collaborating with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to develop a structured plan for Mayank Yadav. The former India fast bowler emphasized that the young pacer holds significance not just for the Super Giants but also for the Indian national team.

While addressing the media, Zaheer stated (as quoted by ESPNcricinfo):

“We’ve had some interesting conversations around his roadmap to recovery and fitness with NCA, so we’re working with them. We hope for their support as well, them buying into the philosophy of really looking after a youngster, because he’s not only important for LSG, he’s important for Indian cricket as well.”

Lucknow Super Giants are set to kick off their IPL 2025 journey against Delhi Capitals on March 24 in Visakhapatnam.
