The 40-year-old will lead Game Changers South Africa Champions in the second World Championship of Legends tournament, which honors legends of the sport.

The World Championship of Legends will launch on July 18, 2025, to feature legendary cricketers worldwide. De Villiers’ return to the cricket field will create fond memories for supporters who greatly missed his exceptional skills and playoff victories on the sporting stage.

Cricket fans warmly remember De Villiers, who announced his retirement from the sport in 2021. De Villiers linked up with an elite Game Changers team, including Jacques Kallis and Herschelle Gibbs, alongside Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir, when the WCL started its first season. As captain, De Villiers brings novelties of both leadership and enthusiasm to the team.
