The CSK vs MI encounter was decided on the very last ball of match. Kieron Pollard scored two runs off the final ball to win the game for his aide. It was Mumbai’s fourth win in their first seven games of the season as they are placed forurth in the points table. Despite the defeat, CSK have managed to stay at the top of the points table as well. Meanwhile, Stephen Fleming, the CSK coach justified his bowlers and the field placement that they had to prevent the winning runs.

Meanwhile, CSK Coach Stephen Fleming in the post-match press conference explained the reason behind the field set for the final delivery to Pollard. The CSK skipper opted for a strange and surprising field setting: on the leg side all the fielders were placed at the boundary line, and nobody was stationed inside the circle.

Lungi Ngidi bowled an accurate yorker which Pollard digged out somehow and ran two runs with the fielder running in from the boundary to stop the couple of runs but could not.

Kieron Pollard Is A Good Timer Of The Ball: Stephen Fleming

“Pollard is such a good timer of the ball that you never know what he’s going to do. Got so much to win, to be honest, we were looking for something like the stumps being hit or like the result we had when we got beaten in the (2019) final. So we’ll go have a look over that. I think there are a lot of other instances that we’ll have a look at rather than just the last ball,” said Fleming at the post-match conference.

On the other hand, CSK skipper MS Dhoni also said that his bowlers will learn from their mistakes in this game and come back stronger in the next game.

Both sides have two more games left in Delhi before they moved ahead in their IPL 2021 campaign for the final leg of the league stage. Out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata & Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each.
