Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith said that he was disappointed with his batting approach in IPL 2020. From opening the batting to batting at number four, Smith batted at various positions throughout the tournament in the unsettling RR batting line-up.
The Australian batsman scored 311 runs in 14 innings for RR at an average of 25.91. Meanwhile, Smith is gearing up for the all-important series against India which starts from November 27. The four-match Test series starts from December 17.
Talking to Cricket Australia’s official website, Smith told that he was disappointed with the way he batted in IPL 2020. The Royals finished last in the tournament after starting their season with a bang.
“I was pretty disappointed with my batting throughout the IPL. From my standards, I wasn’t consistent enough. I had a few innings here and there, but I never got into a really good rhythm. I got a bit caught up with trying to be a bit too powerful and that’s not quite my game” said Smith.

Found My Hands: Steve Smith
Meanwhile leaving behind is travails of the IPL, Steve Smith said that he seems to have ‘found his hands’ just days ahead of the first ODI against Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team in Sydney.
“I had a big smile on my face after training the other day, I walked past (men’s team assistant coach) Andrew McDonald and said ‘I’ve found them again’,” Smith told Cricket Australia.
He further said how he found his lost technique a couple of days back and how explaining it in words would be difficult. He said he understood the process was missing and that he worked hard to regroup it and also his bat flow.
“I was really excited. Theoretically, it is a simple thing, but it is just getting that feel and the look of the bat behind my toe the right way and the way my hands come up on the bat. It’s hard to explain but it just hasn’t quite been right until probably two days ago and I found a little something and everything just clicked in,” he further explained.
