Former England pacer Stuart Broad has responded humorously to Glenn McGrath’s assertion that Australia will win the 2025-26 Ashes 5-0. Broad’s quip was in direct response against this very confident forecast, too far from about four months before the start of the tournament.

McGrath’s thinking must surely come from seeing England in difficulties in Australia, where they last won a Test series in 2010-11. England recently failed to win against India in transition, drawing the series 2-2. McGrath might have equated that to Australia having an edge in the Ashes.

“I reckon I very rarely make a prediction, okay? And I can’t make a different one, 5-0. I am just very confident in our team,” McGrath told the BBC.

Stuart Broad’s Witty Response to Glenn McGrath’s

Former England pacer Stuart Broad has responded humorously to Glenn McGrath’s assertion that Australia will win the 2025-26 Ashes 5-0.

“‘It’s August!! At least let us land, Glenn,’ tweeted Broad on the Friday afternoon. The remark follows the sentiment that McGrath should have waited until England actually landed in Australia before he pronounced his forecast.

The 2025 Men’s Ashes will be held at five venues: Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. The series would culminate with the fifth Test, scheduled to commence on January 4, 2026, at the SCG. This series promises to be a keenly fought contest between two of the world’s pre-eminent cricketing nations.

Australia’s home record is impressive, though, having gone 4-0 away in 2021-22, and of their last 15 home Tests, only two have been losses. However, England has, on numerous occasions, shown tenacity, and it will be intriguing to see where they draw from in this Ashes. Broad will be offering his analysis as part of the Ashes presentation on the Seven Network for the first time.
