In the decisive third T20I against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma, amidst uncertainties about his T20I career, displayed an extraordinary performance by scoring a blazing 121 runs off just 69 balls. This remarkable innings came after facing consecutive ducks in the first two T20Is.

India found themselves struggling at 21/4, but Rohit, along with Rinku Singh, orchestrated an outstanding, unbeaten 190-run partnership, steering India to a commanding total of 212/4. Even as Afghanistan managed to level the scores, forcing a tie-breaker, Rohit showcased his resilience by propelling India into a second Super Over with two crucial sixes.

In the subsequent Super Over, despite scoring 11 runs in the first three balls, both Rohit and Rinku were dismissed. However, Afghanistan’s hopes were dashed as they lost back-to-back wickets, resulting in a series of whitewash for India.

Following the series victory, Rohit Sharma took to Instagram, sharing snapshots from the game and expressing his joy with a simple yet impactful caption: “Loved it.” Responding to Rohit’s stellar performance, former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina praised him in the comments, referring to him as the “GOAT for a reason.”

Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup later in the year, Rohit hinted at having specific players in mind who would play crucial roles in the tournament. His outstanding leadership and batting prowess have undoubtedly solidified his position as a key player for the Indian team in the T20 format.

Rohit Sharma said: “We have still not finalised the squad for the T20 World Cup, but obviously in the mind you know the 8-10 players who are going to play. Then you decide on the combination after looking at the conditions of the place you will be travelling to. In the West Indies, the conditions are quite slow, so we have to pick the squad accordingly. Again I say, Rahul bhai and I have tried to maintain clarity in the team. The one thing I have learnt from captaincy is that you can’t keep everyone happy. You have to focus on the needs of the team.”
