Ayesha Naseem, a key player in Pakistan’s white-ball cricket aspirations, communicated her retirement decision to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). She had represented Pakistan in four One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 30 T20 matches for the women’s team.
One particular standout moment in her career was her remarkable performance against the formidable Australian side, where she scored an impressive 24 runs off just 20 balls, featuring four sixes and a four.
Her cricketing journey had been relatively short but impactful. Ayesha made her international debut in 2020, and in a span of three years, she managed to accumulate over 400 runs from her 34 appearances for Pakistan. In the ODIs, she scored 33 runs, while in the T20 format, she notched up an impressive total of 369 runs for the national side.
However, despite her burgeoning cricketing career, Ayesha has chosen to prioritize her religious beliefs over the sport she loved. She expressed her desire to live her life in accordance with Islam and decided to step away from the cricketing arena to follow her faith.
Her last match for Pakistan was against Australia in 2023, where she unfortunately recorded a three-ball duck. It was an unexpected end to what had been a promising journey in the world of international cricket.
