India skipper Suryakumar Yadav has earned recognition for his improved form, making a return to the top 10 of the ICC T20I batting rankings during the ongoing home series against New Zealand. His back-to-back half-centuries in the wins at Raipur and Guwahati propelled him up five places to seventh.

During his climb, Suryakumar overtook Australia’s Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Tim David. He now holds a rating of 717 and sits just below Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka in the standings. The former No.1 batter had earlier suffered a sharp dip in the rankings following a disappointing 2025 season.

Meanwhile, Indian opener Abhishek Sharma continues to dominate the rankings, retaining the top spot after scoring two fifties in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand. His rating has risen to 929, only two points shy of the all-time high of 931 he set during the 2025 Asia Cup.

Abhishek currently enjoys a commanding lead over England’s Phil Salt, who is placed second. Meanwhile, sidelined due to injury, Tilak Varma has retained his No.3 position despite missing the T20I series against New Zealand. However, his hold on the spot remains under pressure, with Jos Buttler close behind in fourth place.

Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube move up in ICC rankings amid NZ series

Jasprit Bumrah, who recently rejoined the Indian XI after a short break, returned with a standout performance in Guwahati, registering figures of 3 for 17 to claim the Player of the Match award. His decisive spell has resulted in a modest rise in the rankings, with the fast bowler moving up four places to 13th.

Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube have also made notable gains in the ICC T20I all-rounders’ rankings, driven by their performances in the ongoing series. Pandya, the former India captain, has climbed into the top three after contributing a quick cameo and claiming four wickets, overtaking West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase.

Dube, meanwhile, has continued to impress in his role as a sixth bowling option. He has surged six places to reach 11th in the latest rankings update, having taken three wickets in the series against New Zealand at an average of 19.67 and an economy rate of 9.83.
