Indian cricketer and Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav suffered a forearm injury in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. He is likely to miss action for at least four weeks, as reported by Cricbuzz.
Suryakumar Yadav got hit on his left arm during Mumbai Indians’ match against Gujarat Titans on May 6. The following day, he woke up with a swollen arm. It was announced that Suryakumar Yadav will miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2022 season.
“Suryakumar Yadav has sustained a muscle strain on his left forearm and has been ruled out for the season. He has been advised rest, in consultation with the BCCI medical team,” the Mumbai Indians had said in their official statement.

However, as per a report by Cricbuzz, the right-hander could potentially miss International matches for India. The Indian team will be playing against South Africa at home from June 9 to 19. Suryakumar Yadav’s participation in the series is in jeopardy. Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed that the Indian cricketer will be out of action for at least four weeks.
Suryakumar Yadav to undergo scans in Mumbai
The Mumbai Indians batter is still with the franchise and hasn’t yet reached the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. As per the protocol, a contracted injured player has to report to the NCA. However, Suryakumar Yadav will undergo a few scans on Wednesday in Mumbai before going to the NCA.
The Cricbuzz report added that Suryakumar Yadav’s participation in the South African series will depend on his fitness status. The South Africa series includes five Twenty20 Internationals. The series will serve as a preparation for the players ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, later this year. The selection meeting to decide the squad for the T20 International series will take place soon.
