Mumbai Indians batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been in the form of his life. He has been batting on a different level altogether in the last couple of months. Suryakumar was in full flow during Mumbai’s IPL 2021 game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. He scored a swashbuckling half-century to give his side a blistering start.
Mumbai Indians went into the game with one change bringing in Quinton de Kock while Kolkata fielded the same playing XI. Asked the bat first, de Kock tried to free his arms early on in the innings but holed out to Rahul Tripathi in the long-on region. Since then, everything was about Suryakumar Yadav, who was batting as the ground belonged to him while Rohit Sharma adopted the role of a second fiddle.
He smacked the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers right, left, and center to bring his half-century in just 33 deliveries which included six fours and two towering sixes. Suryakumar Yadav brought his fifty with a whooping six off Pat Cummins that struck on the rooftop.
Suryakumar Yadav hits a 99-meter six
It was a length and aimed at the sticks from Australian quick Pat Cummins at an express pace. Suryakumar Yadav, who was looking in sublime touch, picked the bones out of it and flicks it over deep square. The ball flew out of his bat for a 99 meter six leaving all-rounder Hardik Pandya stunned at the dugout. With this big shot, Suryakumar also brought his half-century – his first in IPL 2021.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav managed to add only six more runs to his tally before getting out in an attempt to clear the boundary only to hole out to Shubman Gill. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma also followed the pack soon to reel at 115 for four in 15.2 overs. Hardik Pandya also returned early and now the onus will be on Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya to take Mumbai to a challenging total.
