Suryakumar Yadav Suffers An Ankle Injury In The 3rd T20i Against South Africa

During the third T20I clash against South Africa at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav sustained an ankle injury while fielding. Despite the setback, India posted a formidable total of 201 runs, eventually limiting South Africa to a mere 95 runs in their second innings. As Suryakumar faced the unfortunate twist of his ankle, Ravindra Jadeja assumed leadership on the field.

Despite the injury, Suryakumar earned the Man of the Match title for his consistent performances in South Africa. In the post-game presentation, he reassured fans by mentioning that he could walk, indicating a positive sign. Suryakumar showcased exemplary leadership by scoring a remarkable century in just 55 deliveries, supported by opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who contributed 60 runs.

The Indian innings witnessed a brisk start from Shubman Gill and Jaiswal, who accumulated 29 runs in the initial two overs before Gill fell to Keshav Maharaj. The South African spinner continued his successful spell by dismissing Tilak Verma in the very next delivery. Nevertheless, Suryakumar and Jaiswal formed a resilient partnership, amassing 112 runs and propelling India past the 200-run mark.

The bowling prowess of birthday celebrant Kuldeep Yadav shone through as he claimed a spectacular five-wicket haul, conceding only 17 runs in his 2.5 overs. Ravindra Jadeja secured two wickets in his three overs, while Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh each scalped one wicket.

In the series finale, India and South Africa ended in a 1-1 draw after the first T20I was marred by rain. The birthday boy Kuldeep Yadav’s stellar performance with the ball and Suryakumar Yadav’s resilient leadership were standout moments in a series marked by competitive cricket.
