Mumbai Indians (MI) finally registered their first win of IPL 2022. They defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. But the reaction of Suryakumar Yadav after an unsuccessful review from Yuzvendra Chahal caught the attention of many cricket fans.
In the 8th over, an LBW appeal from Chahal against Suryakumar increased the heartbeats of all MI fans. The 31-year-old right-handed batter tried to play a sweep shot on the bowling of the Rajasthan spinner but missed it completely. The leg-spinner made a huge appeal for LBW but the umpire didn’t raise his finger.
Yuzvendra Chahal instantly took the DRS as he looked completely convinced that the ball was hitting the stumps. However, DRS showed that the ball would just touch the bails and there wasn’t enough contact made to change the on-field decision which was not out. The 31-year-old leg-spinner looked unhappy after it.
Suryakumar went up to Chahal and tried to console him. He put his arm around his shoulders. But Chahal was so frustrated with the decision. He stood at that same position unmoved for a little time to express his dissatisfaction. Suryakumar also gave him a warm hug to enlighten his mood.

“Our real potential came out today” – Rohit Sharma
This win wasn’t an easy win for Mumbai Indians. They encountered several obstacles in this win. While chasing the target of 159, Mumbai Indians lost early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Suryakumar Yadav along with Tilak Verma took MI towards a safer position. Later with the help of an impactful innings from Tim David, the Mumbai franchise chased the target successfully.
Rohit Sharma expressed his happiness after the first win of MI this season. Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit said that today Mumbai Indians played up to their potential and kept on applying pressure.
“I would definitely take it (win), that’s how we play, real potential came out today, with the ball specially. They kept applying the pressure. If you keep taking wickets, it’s going to be difficult for them, we did that perfectly today,” Rohit said.
