Indian pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar grabbed 5 wickets in a must-win match for Uttar Pradesh against Karnataka at Abhimanyu Cricket Academy, Dehradun on 25 October 2023. Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal won the toss and decided to field first.  Thanks to superb batting by Goswami, and Nitish Rana, a cameo by Rinku Singh and Dhruv Jurel, Uttar Pradesh made 196 for 4 in 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Abhinav Manahor and Manoj Bhandage in the 17th over denting the chances of the Karnataka batting lineup. He then got rid of Shubang Hegde, Vijaykumar Vyshak, and Vidwath Kaverrappa to bowl out them for 156 in 18.3 overs. It was a remarkable bowling effort by Bhuvneshwar Kumar as he finished with figures of 5 for 16 in 3.3 overs that helped Uttar Pradesh register a comprehensive 40 runs victory.

He bowled with great control in the death overs which helped Uttar Pradesh register an easy victory over the star-studded Karnataka batting lineup.  With this win, UP moved to 2nd place in the points table and would look to continue their winning form in their last league match against Madhya Pradesh on 27th October 2023. Mayank Agarwal was the top scorer for Karankata with 59 while the rest of the batting failed.

He featured for Team India last year during the T20 World Cup semi-finals against England where India lost the match by 10 wickets.
