Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, came to an end after the Semi-final defeat from Australia at the Dubai International Stadium. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar asks Pakistan fans to support the team after facing defeat in Semi-Final.

Babar Azam’s Pakistan lost by 5 wickets, with Mathew Wade playing a match-winning innings to take Australia over the finishing line. Shoaib Akhtar opened up after the match and said:

 

“There is a lot to learn from this game. I am thoroughly disappointed and heartbroken. This World Cup should have been ours,” said Shoaib on his Youtube channel. “It is terrible, my feelings are with you but we can’t be bad losers. We are going to accept this defeat with open arms and broken hearts. We have done well. Pakistan team I am with you, it’s ok.”

He also asked all the Pakistan fans to support their team after a wonderful journey in this T20 World cup, as Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the group stages.

“I request the whole nation to stay behind the team and support them. They have done wonderfully well. I would’ve loved to see this World Cup in our soil but unfortunately, it’s out of our hands,” said Shoaib.

Shoaib Akhtar also backed Hasan Ali, who dropped Mathew Wade’s catch, who further went on to hit 3 consecutive sixes immediately the ball after Ali dropped his catch.

“Hasan Ali, bring your confidence back, we have a lot to play with. He messed it up but it’s fine. Maybe that catch would have made a difference,” Shoaib Akhtar concluded.
