South Africa defeated India by five wickets in a Super 12 game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Perth Stadium on Sunday, October 30. With this win, the Proteas leapfrogged Rohit Sharma and Co. to the top of the points table.
On a bouncy Perth pitch, the South African fast bowlers kept the Indian batsmen in check and did not allow India to build a big score. Riding on Suryakumar Yadav‘s 68, India posted 133 runs on the board.
In response, South Africa banked on a brilliant partnership between David Miller and Aiden Markram to seal their second win of the T20 World Cup 2022. In this article, we are going to look at the top three best performances from this exciting match.

South Africa made one change against India, replacing Tabraiz Shamsi with Lungi Ngidi. The right-arm fast bowler proved his selection right by dismissing four leading Indian batsmen for just 29 runs in 4 overs.
Ngidi dismissed both India’s openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in his first over. Ngidi then pushed the Indian team on the back foot by dismissing India’s star player Virat Kohli. In front of Ngidi’s brilliant bowling, the Indian team was under pressure throughout the innings and they managed to score only 133 runs in the 20 overs. Ngidi was awarded Player of the Match for this brilliant bowling.
#2 Suryakumar Yadav – (68 off 40)
Almost all the Indian batsmen struggled on Perth’s bouncy pitch. But Suryakumar Yadav showed his class and scored a brilliant half-century. When Suryakumar came in to bat, the Indian team lost two of their key batsmen.
Interestingly, even when wickets were falling continuously from the other side, the right-handed batter continued his aggressive game and scored 68 runs in 40 balls with the help of six fours and three mammoth sixes.
Due to his brilliant innings, the Indian team managed to reach 133 runs. Many legends have also considered this innings of Suryakumar as the best innings of his T20 cricket career.
#3 David Miller – (59* off 46)
South Africa also had a poor start in the chase of 134 runs. After the Proteas lost their top three batsmen early, all the Indian cricket fans were expecting a thrilling win for the Indian team.
But David Miller remained unbeaten till the end with a brilliant knock of 59 runs off 46 balls to give South Africa a victory. Miller’s specialty was that he never felt under pressure throughout the match and did not let the Indian bowlers get the better of him till the end. Miller has been in great form since IPL 2022 and surely Miller’s great form is going to be the X factor for South Africa.
