South Africa defeated the Indian team by 7 Wickets in the first T20I match in the ongoing 5- match T20I series between India and South Africa.  Wayne Parnell made his comeback in the T20I team of South Africa after a gap of almost 5 years. He delivered a good performance in his comeback T20I match.

Wayne Parnell last played for South Africa in 2017. After that he signed a Kolpak deal and moved to England. However his Kolpak deal came to an end in 2021. Duanne Oliver and Simon Harmer are other South African players who have made their comeback post Kolpak deal.

Wayne Parnell in his 4 overs conceded just 32 runs and picked up the crucial wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad. It was a great effort considering it was a high run scoring game. Parnell on instagram expressed his happiness of making a comeback in Proteas team. He posted a picture of him in South African jersey with the caption “1800+ days and felt the same”.

Several cricketers like Dale Steyn, Faf Du Plessis commented on this instagram post of Parnell. However the cheeky comment of Tabraiz Shamsi caught the attention of cricket fans. Shamsi commented, “The man who made his debut with W.G Grace. Good to have you back Parny”. In reply Parnell called Shamsi’s comment a naughty one with laughing emojis.
