South African left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi hilariously trolled Yuzvendra Chahal that you will never bat ahead of him on international cricket on many occasions.
Tabraiz Shamsi showed his friendly banter that he is a more capable batter than Yuzvendra Chahal. On 7 January 2023, Paarl Royal shared a video on their Twitter handle, the South African bowler spoke that Chahal would never bat ahead of him in the batting order.
Chahal and Shamsi have shared the dressing room in Indian Premier League, and both of them have shown great bonding on and off the field. South Africa visited India for 5 match T20I series in October last year. Both spinners were not included in the playing XI, they entertained the fans with Chahal kicking jokingly kicking Shamsi during a drink break.
Shamsi will represent Paarl Royals in the first season of the Cricket South Africa T20 league. This is a six-team tournament that will start on 10 January 2023 with Mumbai Cape Town will take on Paarl Royals in Cape Town.
Chahal looked in great touch during the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. He was the leading wicket-taker in last year’s edition with 27 wickets from 17 matches leading Rajasthan Royals to the grand finale. The leg spinner took a hat trick in 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Chahal proved in Indian Premier League, especially for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Tabraiz Shamsi was unsold in IPL 2023 mini-auction
The South Africa leg spinner was unsold in the 2023 mini-IPL auction held on 23 December 2022. Â He has been a consistent performer for South Africa in white-ball formats and also a success in T20s. Despite his lethal performances, the franchises could not buy him in the mini-auction.
He was kept at a base price of Rs 1 Crore during the mini-auction but was not able to impress the franchises. Shamsi played just 1 match for Rajasthan Royals in the 2021 edition and did not pick any wickets during that fixture.
The leg spinner has grabbed 73 wickets in 59 T20Is for South Africa at an economy of 7.14 runs per over. His performance overall across franchise leagues has been impressive.
He is the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in the T20I format. Now, Shamsi occupies the sixth position during the latest ICC T20I bowling rankings.
