
K. Annamalai, the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, commended South Africa for their energetic display in the ICC Women’s World Cup. The Proteas were the runners-up on Sunday when they were defeated by Harmanpreet Kaur’s India, who scored 52 runs, at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in front of a large audience.
South Africa first opted to bowl and managed to limit India to 298 for seven before getting out for 246 in 45.3 overs. Annamalai said that sometimes sports can be very cruel, as there are hardly any differences dividing two champion teams.

“Sports can sometimes be very cruel, as there can only be one winner. Very little separates champions at the top level – an edge that’s thinner than a hard one, a dropped chance, advantage of winning a toss & many other things,” Annamalai wrote on X.
