Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal recently shared his thoughts on a serious health scare that led to his hospitalization. Despite retiring from international cricket in January 2025, Tamim remains active in domestic cricket and was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match when he suddenly felt discomfort after the toss.
Initially taken to a local hospital for treatment, his condition worsened, and he collapsed, requiring urgent medical attention. He underwent angioplasty surgery on Monday and was discharged four days later.
Expressing Gratitude to Supporters
Following his release from the hospital, Tamim took to Facebook to express his deep appreciation for the overwhelming support he received. He described the past few days as life-changing and emphasized the immense love and gratitude he felt from fans and well-wishers.
“By all your prayers, I am at home now,” he wrote in Bangla, as quoted by the ICC. He acknowledged the support he has received throughout his career but admitted that this incident made him feel it even more profoundly.

Tamim also extended special thanks to the medical team, hospital staff, and individuals who played a critical role in his recovery. In particular, he praised trainer Yakub Chowdhury Dalim, whose timely CPR was deemed crucial in saving his life. “Doctors later told me that if Dalim Bhai had not acted immediately, I would not have survived,” Tamim wrote, showing his immense gratitude.
Looking Ahead to Recovery
While Tamim is now home, he acknowledged that his journey to full recovery is still ongoing. In his message, he urged his supporters to keep him and his family in their prayers. “The road to full recovery is still long. May everyone’s life be beautiful and peaceful. Love for everyone,” he concluded.
As one of Bangladesh’s greatest cricketers, Tamim has left a lasting impact on the game. With 15,192 runs in 387 matches, including 25 centuries, he is the second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh across formats, only behind Mushfiqur Rahim. While his health setback was a terrifying moment, his resilience and gratitude reflect the spirit that made him a cricketing legend.
