Taskin, Arafat banned after found guilty of illegal bowling action: Bangladesh right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed and left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny have been suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect after assessments found their bowling actions to be illegal.
Sunny and Taskin were reported to have suspect actions in the World T20 Qualifier match against Netherlands. Following that, the duo were selected for their first match of the World T20 against Pakistan. Both the bowlers had picked up two wickets each in the match. But after the independent assessments that were made in Chennai last week, the duo have been found guilty of illegal bowling actions.
Shuvagata Hom and Saqlain Sajib are the probable replacements for the suspended duo. Mashrafe said that they can be ideal replacements, but there is a difference between in-form players and newly joining players. “There is a process, and we will follow that. Whatever we have to say, we will talk to Bangladesh Cricket Board. BCB will decide what to do and whether talk to the ICC. But we still believe that Taskin – at least – is all right, and that Taskin can bowl,” Mortaza said at the press conference before their clash against Australia.
