With the T20 World Cup just a few months away, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is keen on being completely match fit in order to provide some assistance in the bowling department. If India are to progress to the later stages of the tournament, Hardik Pandya will have a crucial role to play.

The cricketer from Baroda has been training on a grueling schedule. As the pandemic has reduced cricketing action around the world, lots of players have been maintaining their fitness at home and Hardik is no exception.

My bowling is related to my fitness – Hardik Pandya

In a recent interaction with TOI, the all-rounder spoke on where his focus lies in the next few months. Many people consider Hardik Pandya to not be worthy of a place in the side if he cannot provide a full quota of 4 overs along with his batting.

“For me, I want to make sure, and I will be able to, that I will bowl in the all the matches of the T20 World Cup. I’m just trying to be smart and make sure that I don’t miss that. My full focus is on the World Cup,” he was quoted as saying.

Hardik Pandya, who had to undergo back surgery in the United Kingdom last year, mentioned that his surgery didn’t result in a drop in his bowling speeds or style. He will be next seen in action during the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka in July.

“Yes, on the bowling front, what matters is how fit I am. Even after my surgery I didn’t drop my pace. My bowling is related to my fitness. The fitter I get, the better it comes out. Whenever I play, I don’t want to be at 50%. [When] I play, I play at 100%,” he concluded.
