Team India captain Virat Kohli rises to the second position in ICC Test Rankings

The Indian captain Virat Kohli rises to number 2 in latest ICC Test batsmen rankings. In the third test at Virat Kohli made his sixth double century scoring 243 and 50 which helped him to rise in the rankings. Virat Kohli also ended the 2017 year with number 1 ranking batsman in ODI and T20I format. In the test series against Sri Lanka, Kohli scored 610 runs.

Australian captain Steve Smith who 46 runs in the second test match at Adelaide Oval still remains at number 1 in the rankings. The Indian captain who scored a mammoth 243 and 50 at Delhi against Sri Lanka rose from 5th to 2nd spot. It was a great display of batting by the Indian test captain Kohli.

England captain Joe Root made good contributions in the second test against Australia remains at number 3. India’s number 3 test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara did not have a great match at Delhi drops to number 4 in the rankings.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson did not score many runs in the first innings against West Indies drops down to 5th. David Warner maintains his 6th spot.

Hashim Amla also maintains his 7th spot with 907 points. Pakistan Azhar Ali retains his number 8th position in the latest rankings.

Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal who scored 164 and 36 in the Delhi test match against India, climbs to number 9th in the rankings. South Africa’s Dean Elgar completes top 10 batsmen rankings in test matches.

For bowlers, James Anderson who bowled brilliantly in the second innings at Adelaide Oval continues to remain at the number 1 position. South Africa’s young sensation Rabadda moves one place up to number 2.

India’s left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja slips down to number 3. He could not take many wickets in Delhi test. His spinning partner Ravichandran Ashwin maintains his number 4th rankings.

Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Hearth also maintains his number 5th spot. Josh Hazlewood who bowled brilliantly in the pink ball test match at Adelaide Oval regains 6th spot.

New Zealand Neil Wagner who took 9 wickets in the first test match against West Indies, moved up 2 places to 7th. Australia star bowler showed his class during second Ashes test match, rises to number 8th in the rankings.

Nathan Lyon slips 2 places down to number 9. He bowled well in the second test Ashes test match. Dale Steyn completes the top 10 bowlers rankings. South Africa fast bowler slips down 2 places to number 10.
