Team India Coach Left The Squad Shockingly; Here’s Why?

Just days before India’s ICC Champions Trophy campaign, bowling coach Morne Morkel had to return home following the passing of his father. Morkel had traveled to Dubai with Team India on February 15 and actively participated in training sessions. However, his absence from the team’s Monday practice raised concerns, and it was later confirmed that the former South African pacer was preparing to leave for home due to the unfortunate event.

As per reports from Dainik Jagran, Morkel’s return timeline remains uncertain. His absence could impact India’s bowling preparations, especially with the tournament opener against Bangladesh scheduled for February 20. The team will now have to adjust without their bowling coach as they finalize strategies for the crucial event.

KL Rahul Prepares for Finisher’s Role

With the Champions Trophy approaching, KL Rahul focused on enhancing his power-hitting skills during India’s second training session on Monday. Traditionally known for his technical prowess, Rahul seemed to adopt a more aggressive approach, preparing for a lower-order role in the batting lineup.

With competition from Rishabh Pant for a spot in the playing XI, the 32-year-old appeared determined to showcase his ability as a finisher. Having recently scored a brisk 40 off 29 balls in the third ODI against England, Rahul was seen effortlessly clearing the boundary during practice. Positioned to bat at No. 5 or 6, he will be crucial in the final overs, tasked with accelerating the innings when required.

Other Key Batters in Action

Shreyas Iyer, who has demonstrated aggressive batting form in recent matches, also focused on refining his power-hitting skills. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, fresh off an impressive ODI series against England with scores of 87, 60, and 112, continued to showcase his fluent stroke play, executing precise drives and pulls.

Team captain Rohit Sharma, who recently regained form with a stellar 119 in the second ODI, worked on delicate shots, including late cuts. Virat Kohli, aiming to build on his recent 52-run knock in the third ODI, appeared confident as he timed the ball well, emphasizing controlled strokes. With key batters looking in form, India’s batting lineup appears well-prepared for the upcoming challenge in the Champions Trophy.
