Team India led by their skipper Virat Kohli reached Pune for the ODI series against England on Sunday. India won the T20I series 3-2 after they won the decider by 36 runs against the visitors. This was India’s seventh T20I series win in their last eight bilateral series. Kohli was chosen as the Man of the Series after he scored 231 runs in the five-match series. Despite the series loss, England have managed to hold on to their number one position in the ICC T20I rankings followed by India at number two.
The BCCI’s official Twitter handle posted a video of Team India’s arrival in Pune for the ODI series. It captioned the post, “Hello Pune, we’re here.”

Team India and England last played an ODI during the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. During the group stage encounter, Morgan & Co. triumphed over the Men in Blue by 31 runs in a high-scoring encounter after setting up a 337-run target for them. On the other hand, the last bilateral series between both sides was also won by the English side, played in mid-2018 during India’s tour of England.
The World Champions are leading the ICC ODI rankings as well followed by India at number two. England will be itching to make a comeback in the ODI series following their T20I series loss. England skipper Eoin Morgan said that the side found a lot of positives from the recent T20I series.
India lost their previous ODI series against Australia in their recent tour down under. They won the Test and the T20I series but lost the ODIs in between.
The two teams now face off in a three-match ODI series in Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. The first game will be played on Match 23 followed by the last two on March 26 & 28. Both the teams have named the squads for the three-match series. There are some new faces in both sides and a few are expected to be given their debut ODI caps.
