As per Hindustan Times, rising star Rinku Singh has received an invitation from the Indian team to join them in Dharamsala for the photo shoot ahead of the fifth England Test, in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The prestigious tournament is scheduled to commence on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA, concluding with the grand finale on June 29. This invitation suggests that the 26-year-old may have solidified his place in the Indian T20 World Cup squad.
Rinku has made a significant impact on the international scene with a stellar beginning, maintaining an outstanding average of 89 and a strike rate exceeding 176 in 15 T20I appearances.
After a noteworthy 38 in his inaugural batting performance for India against Ireland, the left-handed batsman has already delivered numerous match-winning performances for the team in his early career.
His vital contribution of 46 runs off 29 balls in the fourth T20I against Australia played a pivotal role in securing victory for the Men in Blue in the five-match series. Rinku achieved his first T20I half-century during the South Africa tour, registering an unbeaten 68 off 39 balls in the second game.
In what could be considered one of his finest T20I displays, the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh played a pivotal role in rescuing India in the series decider against Afghanistan earlier this year.
Joining the batting lineup with India struggling at 22/4, Rinku showcased brilliance by smashing an impressive 69* off 39 deliveries, enabling India to set a formidable total of 212 in 20 overs.
Amidst India’s quest for a dependable finisher post MS Dhoni’s retirement, Rinku Singh has not only fulfilled that role but has exceeded expectations in his relatively short T20I career.

As the fifth India-England Test marks the team’s final match before the T20 World Cup, attention will shift to the 2024 IPL season. Rinku Singh is set to make a comeback for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the franchise aims to rectify the shortcomings of the past two seasons.
Following their runner-up finish in IPL 2021, KKR faced disappointment by missing the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023. However, Rinku Singh made a significant impact in the IPL during both seasons, particularly in the previous year, delivering numerous exceptional performances.
Despite batting in the middle order, the 26-year-old accumulated 474 runs last season at an impressive average of almost 60 and a strike rate of 149.53. A standout moment in the tournament was his five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal when 29 runs were needed in the final over against the Gujarat Titans (GT).
Now, with Shreyas Iyer returning to strengthen the middle order, Rinku aims to maintain his exceptional form and contribute to breaking KKR’s two-season playoff drought.
