Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL title by beating Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the IPL 2020 final in Dubai. They are the second team after Chennai Super Kings to win back to back titles. Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Vaughan hailed them as the best team in the world after their herculean effort at the IPL level.
Mumbai became the second team after Chennai Super Kings to win back to back IPL title. Having won the title every alternate year since 2013, Mumbai have finally broken the odd-year jynx. In the course to the finals, they topped the group with 18 points and then beat Delhi Capitals comprehensively to win the game.
‘The Best Team In The World’: Michael Vaughan
Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan took to microblogging site Twitter to shower praise on the five-time IPL champions. Incidentally, at the start of the season, Vaughan had vouched for KKR to win the title, but it was Mumbai Indians that won the season. The former England skipper also rated IPL as the best T20 tournament in the world.
“Great #IPL … The best team in the world won at a canter … Full credit to all players for producing an incredible standard in these testing times … Without question the IPL is the best T20 tournament by a country mile,” Michael Vaughan wrote on Twitter.

Mumbai Indians started the seasons as defending champions and ended the season as defending champions as well having won back to back. It was a team effort and a culmination of the efforts put together by the support staff as well which saw Mumbai make history on the night in Dubai.
“We had a great preparation, and we tried to manage them well and ensure they didn’t overdo or underdo any of the work. Big-hitting has been in MI’s DNA for a long time. We have tried to bring in the touch play a little bit to balance it out. Credit to the management who bought into our ideas and that helped create history today” said an elated Mahela Jayawardene at the post-match presentation.
