Team India youngster Shreyanka Patil credited the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and the experience of playing in the India A series for her recent performance. She powered India to a comfortable win against England in the third T20I on Sunday, December 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Shreyanka Patil won the Player of the Match award in the third T20I. She took three wickets in the match conceding just 19 runs at an economy rate of 4.8. She finished the series with five wickets in three matches. Shreyanka expressed that playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in WPL 2023 and India A has helped her to grow as a cricketer. She said, following India’s win,

“Very happy because it’s the first time I am getting a three-for. My coach and parents are watching. Love to continue the performance. The experience I got in WPL and with India A was crucial.”

Huge experience to be bowling with Deepti Sharma: Shreyanka Patil

Shreyanka Patil further expressed that playing with Deepti Sharma is a huge learning for her. She thanked the veteran for her encouragement during the game. Deepti is the only Indian bowler who has taken 100 wickets in T20Is. She has 108 wickets in 101 matches, at an economy rate of 6.05.

“Happy to be chipping in. It’s a huge experience for me to be bowling in tandem with Deepti, she is backing me, coming and having a chat on and off the field. Looking forward to the journey. I enjoyed all three wickets. As a bowler, you always look to take wickets, hard to pick one as best,” said Shreyanka Patil.

India won the third T20I against England but lost the three-match series 2-1. Nat Sciver-Brunt won the Player of the Series award for scoring 93 runs in two matches and picking up a couple of wickets as well. India will also host England for a solitary Test match at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai from Thursday, December 14.
