The 2022 T20 World Cup got underway in Australia on Sunday, October 16. The Qualifiers round of the tournament has reached the business end, with teams battling to secure a spot in the Super 12. Before the start of the Super 12 round, former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar picked his four semi-finalists for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar expressed that he would love to see the Indian team lift the T20 World Cup this year. India hasn’t won the trophy since their inaugural season championship win in 2007. However, Sachin Tendulkar also stated the top competitors for India. He picked Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand as the semi-finalists along with India.

“I would obviously want India to be the champions but my top four would be India, Pakistan, Australia, and England. New Zealand is the dark horse as is South Africa… These are the conditions South Africans get to encounter at home in September-October. They are used to such conditions,” Tendulkar told The Telegraph.

The Super 12 stage of T20 World Cup kicks off on October 22

The Super 12 round of the 2022 T20 World Cup will begin on Saturday, October 22 with Australia taking on New Zealand in Sydney. Both the teams are in Group 1, along with England, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and one more team from the Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and one more team from the Qualifiers will form Group B. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands due to points table margin have already qualified for the Super 12 stage of the tournament from the qualifiers.

The top two teams from each group in the Super 12 stage will reach the semi-finals, which will take place on November 9 in Sydney and on November 10 in Adelaide. The final will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 13.
