Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay, surprised fans with a shoutout to Team India’s pace bowling ace, Jasprit Bumrah, during the band’s concert at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Saturday, January 18.
The musician then showcased a video of Bumrah’s iconic dismissal of England’s Ollie Pope on the big screen during the band’s next performance at the same venue the following day. After these back-to-back mentions, Bumrah took to Instagram to express his appreciation.
The cricketer shared the concert clip, captioning it that the moment had made him smile.
“This made me smile! Incredible vibe at the @coldplay concert in Mumbai (from what I’ve seen here) and even more special to be mentioned.”

It’s notable that during Coldplay’s Saturday concert in Navi Mumbai, Chris Martin paused his performance and humorously suggested the band might have to end the show because Bumrah was backstage and wanted to bowl to him.
At the second show, the English singer playfully admitted that his earlier remark about Bumrah wanting to bowl to him was a “lie” before playing the clip of Pope’s dismissal.

Jasprit Bumrah faced an injury scare during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia earlier this month, missing the fourth innings due to a back issue.
