Afghanistan and Ireland were granted full member status earlier this year and they are announcing their arrival into the longest format of the game this month. While Ireland will be playing Pakistan next week, Afghanistan will be playing India on June 14.

Young Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer likely to replace Virat Kohli in the historic one-off test against Afghanistan at Bangalore.

“We have like for like replacements. For Kohli, it has been Iyer. For Jadeja, it”s Axar Patel, for Hardik Pandya, it is Vijay Shankar. So you cannot miss the pattern,” a selection committee member said to the channel news 18.

Shreyas Iyer, the current Delhi skipper in the Indian Premier League has looked in a fine touch with the bat. His scintillating big hits were a treat to watch and received accolades from cricket experts.

This is not the first time this youngster will be replacing Kohli. In the final test against Australia at Dharamsala, he was called as a cover for the injured captain. He showed his class in that test by a wonderful run out.

All eyes will be on youngsters Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rehman who are stunning the oppositions with their thrifty spells.

Virat Kohli is all set to represent Surrey in the county championship right after the IPL. It will be interesting to see Kohli”s approach in the English pitches as he hadn”t had a great season before.

The Indian skipper for the game hasn”t been announced yet and it is expected to be out on May 8. The Indian squad for the England series will also be announced on the same date.
