Pakistan batter Mohammad Haris expressed that it is too early to compare him with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and AB de Villiers. He added that he has to put in a lot of hard work to reach their level. Suryakumar Yadav and AB de Villiers are always regarded highly for their ability to play 360-degree cricket.
Mohammad Haris is currently in Sri Lanka leading the Pakistan team in the Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 tournament. He has had a decent run so far in the tournament, scoring 64 runs in two matches, at an average of 32. He slammed a fifty against United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, July 17. The batter has a reputation for being an innovative batter who can play 360 degrees.
Talking about comparisons with Suryakumar Yadav and AB De Villiers, Mohammad Haris expressed to PAK TV, “We shouldn’t compare between the two of us just yet, Surya is 32-33 years old. I am still a 22-year-old boy. To reach that stage I still have to put that work in.”
I am at my own level: Mohammad Haris
Mohammad Haris further expressed that he wants to develop a reputation for himself as a 360-degree cricketer. He added that he doesn’t want to be compared with the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and AB de Villiers and make a name for himself. Speaking to PAK TV, he said,
“Surya has his own level, De Villiers had his own level and I am at my own level as well. I want to make a name for myself as a 360-degree cricketer, not use theirs.”
Pakistan A is in Group B in the ACC Mens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023. They have won both their matches so far in the tournament. They defeated Nepal and UAE and are second on the table currently. The Mohammad Haris-led team will take on the table-toppers India on July 19 in Colombo.
