Tom Moody has spoken highly for an India youngster who was mighty impressive on his Test match debut. The player that impressed Moody the most is fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. The 26-year-old made his Test debut at MCG and played a critical role in India’s series-levelling win. Suraj had massive boots to fill in his maiden Test as he was replacing Mohammed Shami.

However, Siraj grabbed his opportunity with both hands and proved to be an asset for team India in both innings. Siraj picked a total of 5 wickets in the match as India bowled out Australia cheaply twice in the Test. Now, Tom Moody has praised Siraj for his rise first for the way he made his name in the IPL and then representing India in Test cricket.

Tom Moody Showers Praises On Mohammed Siraj

Tom Moody stated that Siraj gave it his all in his maiden Test and tried to contribute in any way possible. The former cricketer and successful T20 coach, Moody added that Siraj knew what he was doing and challenged the Australian batsmen constantly. Moody also reckons that Siraj will thrive in overseas conditions and is a great find for India.

“Mohammed Siraj, I think was really impressive. We’re talking another wonderful Indian cricket story. This is a young guy that’s come from a very humble upbringing, got his IPL chance at Sunrisers before going to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Now he’s playing Test cricket”, Moody said on ESPNCricinfo.

“To me, he looked every bit at home as a Test cricketer. Whether he had the bowl in his hand or was at the top of his mark, or even when he was in the field. He tried to save every single run which is what you want from a captain’s and a coach’s perspective, which is so important”.

“He’s quick enough to disturb top-order players. India has found a keeper there and he’s someone who will thrive overseas as well because of the way he presents the seam. He can swing the ball and get movement off the pitch. He’s a great find for India”, Moddy said about Siraj.

Meanwhile, Siraj truly was outstanding in his maiden Test and proved to be a great foil for Team India. On a reasonably flat track at MCG, Siraj produced the goods and he bowled relentlessly in both innings. He is now expected to play the remaining two Test matches in the series against Australia. The third Test between Australia and India will be played at Sydney from January 7.
