Top Three Catches In IPL Finals History

The Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will square off in this year’s IPL final in Ahmedabad. Throughout the season, both teams have displayed excellent performance with both the bat and the ball.

One of the most crucial elements of the sport is fielding. Especially in big games, players are expected to take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself.

The game can quickly turn in the opposition’s favor with just one missed opportunity. And for a volatile format like T20, this makes even more sense.

We examine three outstanding catches made in championship games throughout the years.

To get rid of Faf du Plessis, Rohit Sharma made a terrific catch

1)Manish Pandey VS. DC, 2009

One of the best fielders in this generation has been Manish Pandey. He has not been particularly effective with the bat in the IPL or international cricket, but he has made some outstanding plays on the field for different teams throughout the competition.

In the IPL, Pandey became the first player from RCB and India to reach 100 points. That season, he played a crucial role for the team from his state. When playing Deccan Chargers in the championship game in Johannesburg, RCB took the first pitch.

Rohit attempted to step out and hit a six, but Pandey’s genius forced him to return to the pavilion. But the Deccan Chargers prevailed by a razor-thin six runs in the thrilling finale.

2 Matthew Hayden VS. MI, 2010

At the DY Patil Stadium, CSK batted first and scored 168/5 with the help of Suresh Raina’s decisive 57* off just 35 deliveries, which was the game’s highest total.

No Mumbai batter could get going in response, it seemed. It took 45 deliveries for Sachin Tendulkar to reach his 48-run total.

They had a slim chance of winning thanks to Kieron Pollard’s late onslaught.

1)Rohit Sharma VS. CSK, 2015

At Eden Gardens, the Chennai Super Kings, the Mumbai Indians’ fiercest rival, faced off against them. They opened the bat and scored 202/5 in the first innings, which is a very respectable total.

The CSK batters couldn’t match the needed run rate in response, so the game was lost. The rest of the team had too much work to do after Dwayne Smith’s 57 runs came off 48 deliveries.

Mumbai had the game already won by that point, though CSK still needed 78 runs off the final 23 balls. MI claimed their second IPL championship with a victory of 41 runs in the game.
