India’s Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has made a brilliant comeback into the Indian side. Playing in the first one-day international, he has picked up two wickets so far, reducing Sri Lanka to 89 for the loss of three wickets.
Rajapaksha, his first victim was looking dangerous before completely miscuing a lofted shot towards mid-on. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan made no mistake as he took a perfect catch inside the ring at mid-on. Soon Minod Bhanuka followed his partner back to the pavilion. He attempted a drive but edged the ball to Prithvi Shaw at the first slip.

Sri Lanka tour is very important for me: Kuldeep Yadav
In the past few years, Kuldeep Yadav was going through a rough patch. The chinaman bowler did not play a single game in the first half of the Indian Premier League 2021. Before the start of the Sri Lanka series, Kuldeep spoke about the importance of this tour for him personally.
“This Sri Lanka tour is very, very important because, first of all, I’m not a part of the Test squad (in England). And secondly, this is one good opportunity to play and perform. Thereafter, we’ve got the IPL as well, which gives me another opportunity to be back in the reckoning. Nothing parallels performance, and if I perform, I know I’ll definitely be back,” Kuldeep told The Telegraph.
“And honestly, I’m not thinking much about a T20 World Cup berth now because it eventually boils down to how well I keep doing. There’s healthy competition in the squad, so I know what my job is,” he added.
Hopefully, the Sri Lanka series will turn out to be Kuldeep Yadav’s resurgence in Indian cricket.
