There was a lot of talk about whether India could beat the defending champions Australia who was looking very confident and was eager to retain their trophy. But a blistering knock from Harmanpreet Kaur shattered the dream of the Aussies. She played the knock of her career scoring 171 runs off just 115 balls.
In reply, the mighty Australians lost wickets at regular intervals despite good knocks from Elyse Villani and Alex Blackwell. They were all-out for 245, Deepti Sharma being the pick of bowlers taking three wickets.
