Ben Stokes today was a man on a mission as he punished the Indian bowlers to all parts in the 2nd ODI at Pune. The England all-rounder for the second match in a row batted at the number 3 spot. Stokes was in a complete mood today as he took a liking to Indian bowlers and put on an exhibition of power-hitting. Twitter was in awe and full of praises of Stokes as he once again showed why he is considered the best cricket in the world right now.
Stokes activated his beast mode against spin and backed himself to clear the boundary rope on every delivery. He smashed Kuldeep Yadav for 3 consecutive sixes and then 28 runs from a Krunal Pandya over and completely took the match away from team India. Eventually, it was heartbreak as he gloved a short from Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Rishabh Pant on 99. Stokes fell one run short of what could have been one of the all-time great ODI hundreds.
Ben Stokes Puts On An Exhibition Of Six Hitting
Nevertheless, it was still an outstanding knock as Stokes scored 99 runs in just 52 deliveries at a strike rate of 190.38. He scored his last 50 runs in just 12 balls as he kept making a mockery of the boundary ropes at the MCA stadium in Pune. Stokes in total hit 10 sixes and 4 boundaries as England are now on the brink of levelling the 3 match ODI series.
England even though lost a couple of wickets after Stokes departed are on their way to win the match. Meanwhile, here’s how Twitter reacted after Ben Stokes was producing batting of the highest order and smashing India bowlers at will in the second ODI.
Ben Stokes was 50 off 40 balls. He is now 93 off 49.

Ben Stokes was 50*(40) then 6,6,6,1,6,4,2,6,6,2,4 and got out with one run away from well deserving hundred – 99 runs from just 52 balls including 4 fours and 10 sixes – Take a bow, Stokes. pic.twitter.com/xTp1NcUmJO

Stokes dismissed unfortunately for 99 but his manic hitting reduced India’s bowling to tatters, and worth more than a century
