Several Twitter users slammed Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) for acquiring rights of Pakistan matches at a time when there is huge political tension between the two countries.

Some cricket fans were even thrilled with the announcement as they are now going to see Pakistan matches for the next 3 years. However, the majority of the Indian fans were against the decision and even wanted the Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) to be banned for showing cricket matches of Pakistan.

Twitter Divided After Sony Sports Network Grabs Hosting Rights For Pakistan Matches

The Government of India has been very strict with regards to the cricketing ties between India and Pakistan. Due to Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist activities, they haven’t permitted India to play any bilateral series with Pakistan. The two proud cricketing nations last played a bilateral series way back in 2013 when Pakistan toured India.

In recent times matches played in Pakistan were not televised in India. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) was not televised in India until this year and fans had to watch matches online. Now finally Sony Sports Network took a bold move and grabbed the broadcasting rights of all home matches of Pakistan until 20023.

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the big news on their official Twitter handle which had fans divided on the popular micro-blogging platforms. Several Indian fans on Twitter commented that the channel should be banned by the government of India. Pakistan fans on the other hand too were split with the decision as some criticised PCB whereas others were elated and advised PCB to now buy the broadcasting for IPL.
